Sydney to host the inaugural Murcutt Symposium, Sept 2025.

Glenn Murcutt AO will anchor a new biennial event to be held in Sydney in September 2025. The inaugural Murcutt Symposium will be hosted by the Foundation that bears his name, the Glenn Murcutt Architecture Foundation (Australia).

Loosely modelled on the successful Alvar Aalto Symposium in Finland, the Murcutt Symposium will explore and promote the themes that have underpinned Murcutt’s architectural practice over more than five decades, and will include building tours and public lectures.
But Glenn Murcutt will not be alone in headlining the Murcutt Symposium in 2025. Francis Kéré, laureate of the Pritzker Prize and Praemium Imperiale, and widely recognized as one of the world’s leading architects, will join Murcutt on stage over two days in Sydney - delivering a public lecture, and keynote at a one-day symposium.
Murcutt, Australia’s most awarded living architect, is enthusiastic about Kéré’s first visit to Australia:
“Francis Kéré is one of the great humans, and a gifted architect who really shows architecture can make a difference in people’s lives. I am so pleased that Sydney will get to meet him this year.”

Save the date: 11-13 September 2025.
